In this Q&A, we chat with Naomi, one of our brilliant auditors about their journey into accounting, the buzz of working with our expert team, and a surprising crossword twist you won't want to miss.
What sparked your interest in accounting?
I always loved maths at school and ended up heading down a maths/science pathway—but I also chose to add accounting to the mix.
Even though this made my timetable a bit tricky to work out, I’m so glad I chose to include accounting because it quickly became my favourite subject. It gave me the direction I knew I wanted to pursue.
What do you enjoy most about your role and the team you work with?
I feel very privileged to be part of the amazing team at SAS, led by Denise and Daniel Surjenko. I really value the wealth of knowledge they bring and their deep understanding of the SMSF auditing process. The way the company stays up to date with every change—and shares that knowledge with the rest of the team—is something I truly admire.
The professionalism here is next level, but it’s also such a fun and relaxed work environment to be part of.
Outside of work, what are your interests or hobbies that keep you busy in your free time?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching and going to the footy, experimenting with new cooking ideas—and I love doing crosswords.
Share a fun fact or an interesting hidden talent that your colleagues might not know about you.
My love of crosswords led me to try compiling them—which actually resulted in two of my crosswords being published (so far!).

Methodical.
